Electronic waste is the fastest-growing waste stream in the world. In a sustainable development project in collaboration with FORCE Technology, we worked with a clear focus on extending the service life of electronic circuit boards installed in outdoor junction boxes.
In an outdoor electrical junction box exposed to heat, cold, and moisture, condensation can form and penetrate the circuit board, causing components to swell, corrode, and eventually fail over time.
This leads to costly replacements, a short service life for the circuit board, and an unnecessary increase in electronic waste.
In close collaboration with FORCE Technology, we developed a highly diffusion-tight plastic solution that acts as a barrier between moist and dry air.
The function of an EquiLung is as follows:
- The electronic circuit boards are effectively protected against moisture, thereby extending their service life.
- The manufacturer saves money on service and replacement
- The amount of electronic waste is reduced
